Cabasas Ashokos Kalimbas

Africa is home to several tribes and different ethic groups, all with different languages and cultures. In the past, since every culture was different, history was passed with music, especially drums. Drums were used as a way to communicate. Native speakers of certain languages could translate the beats of a drum into messages. The drum is so important in African society that it is sometimes equated with a man.

Today, when African musicians play music, their aim is not to produce a sound that is pleasing to hear. Their primary goal is to express life and all of its aspects through their music. Musical games played by African children prepare them to participate in many activities as adults, including hunting, farming, fishing, and attending weddings, funerals and dances.
