Brass instruments tone is produced by using the lips to produce vibrations as the player blows into a tubular resonator, usually known as the mouthpiece.
Modern brass instruments are usually played by manipulating sets of valves or slides to change the effective length of the tubing. Many classical style natural brass instruments, such as the bugle or the bugle, require the notes to be played along a harmonic series. Another classical form of the brass instruments is flute which base is covered by fingers, or finger-operated keypads, in a way similar to that of a woodwind instrument.
