The duduk is one of the oldest double reed instruments in the world, dating back over 3,000 years. It is an Armenian wind instrument with sound qualities comparable to the clarinet. The earliest instruments similar to the duduk's present form are made of bone or entirely of cane. Today the duduk is exclusively made of wood.
Learning to play the duduk is fairly straightforward and easy, and its sound is clean and pleasant. It can create a wide range of melodies, including rhythmic dance tunes. Because of this, the duduk has truly become a part of everyday life in Armenia.
