Finger Cymbals (Zills, Tingshas) - Products
Our finger cymbals consist of products also known as Zills, Manjeeras, Tingshas, Khartals (or more depending on where you are and what dialect you’re using). Zills are tiny metallic finger cymbals often used in belly dancing and similar performances. Percussionists playing zills sometimes use a less complicated technique than the traditional one used by dancers.
Tingshas have been used as prayer chimes for centuries by Tibetan Buddhists to prepare for meditation to focus the mind. After the small cymbals are struck against each other, the bell is left to ring until there is silence. They are used at the beginning and end of a meditation to open the mind for meditation and then to open the mind to go back to reality.
Manjeera, also known as manjira, tala, khartal or kartal are ancient instruments that originated in India. These small metal cymbals are held and played with the hands and often accompany folk or devotional music.
